More baby gifts

Claudia made this little jacket and matching booties for the baby. I love the little blue pockets.
Ann works in the temple with a lady whose daughter makes blankets. It is the softest blanket ever. There was also a tag along that she made that matches the blanket. It's a furry friend blanket. I love it!!!

Easter

We had a pretty good Easter. The girls got new Sunday outfits in their basket. Of course there was the usual fighting and whining over which girl got more stuff. I made the girls skirts and matching headbands. Christy got new Sunday shoes and Shadow got a jacket type thing that matched. David got a new t-shirt and I got two new pairs of socks in our basket. We went to church with Ann and Dean. After church we had lunch with Ann, Dean, Deann and her kids. Then we packed up and headed home. It took us forever to get home. We had to stop in St. George and drop off baskets at moms house, then we had to stop in Henderson to drop off Shadow, we had to stop and get gas, we stopped for dinner in Baker and traffic was slow going from Baker to home. We got home after 11. Good thing Christy and I got to sleep in this morning. We are so glad that we got to go to St. George and visit with family. The holidays always seem better with family.
The girls all dressed up for Church.

Easter Family get together.

Saturday afternoon the Bushar family had a Easter get together. It was held at a park and pool in Lucinda's neighborhood. We had a potluck type lunch. Jimmy Johns sandwiches, chips, salads, rolls, desserts and homemade rootbeer. After lunch there was homemade ice cream for everyone. Then swimming time! The kids had a blast swimming. After swimming the Easter egg hunt was held. The girls had fun running around and finding eggs. Christy found a lot of eggs with taffy in them, which now that she has braces she cannot eat. There wasn't a whole lot of candy that she could eat. After the egg hunt there was more swimming and visiting. It was great to spend the afternoon with the Bushar family.

Baby Shower with the Bushar Family

Saturday at the Bushar family get together there was a baby shower for me. David and Shadow both wanted to keep playing ball instead of taking part in the baby shower. Christy couldn't wait to help :)
Onsies, pants and an outfit.
Two sizes of pajamas, and some outfits.
Blanket that Ann is going to crochet around the edges.
Soft blanket, wash clothes and onsies.
Pajamas, outfit and shoes.

A big thank you to everyone for all the great baby gifts. Our little boy is already so spoiled and he's not even born yet!!!

Braces

On Saturday April 23 Christy and I both had Orthodontist appointments. I am now done with my braces! 14 months for my bottom teeth and 16 months for my top teeth. I am so excited no more braces and no more bumps on my teeth. I am so glad that I got braces and the time seemed to fly by. Christy just started her braces on Saturday. Dr. Theurer estimates that she will need to wear them for 16 months then she will wear retainers until all her adult teeth have come in. At that point she might need to have a couple teeth pulled or she might need braces again. We are hoping that by her having braces now things will go well enough to avoid any further need in the future. Christy was all happy at first to get braces. Then when they started listing all the things she could not eat she started getting worried. Christy is a real trooper she tried so hard to be positive when we were at the family gathering after our appointments. Yesterday she said they were hurting a little. I hope she gets used to all this fast, I am not used to helping her brush and floss. It's a lot more work to take care of your teeth with braces on.
Showing off her braces. Her braces are different than a lot of other braces out there. Her rubber bands are beneath her wire and she only gets rubber bands on the top five front teeth. She picked pink and orange bands. You can't really see the colors. Oh well it made her happy.
Getting ready for braces. She was such a trooper.

Bowling

Today I took the girls bowling. On North Island base the bowling center has bowling for $1 on Monday's. Both girls like to bowl so I thought it would be a perfect activity for the girls. The girls played two games. Christy won the first game and Shadow won the second game :)

Rancho Bernardo Spring Fling

We had a very busy Saturday. David had duty section muster, then he went straight from muster to the airport to pick up Shadow. She is spending the week with us. As soon as they got home we headed to Rancho Bernardo. Every year they have a Spring Fling. This was our first and only year going. The girls each got to decorate a planter and choose a plant to put in it. Then the girls played on the playground until their age group was called for the Easter egg hunt. I like the way their egg hunt works. All the plastic eggs are empty. At the end of the hunt you turn in all your plastic eggs for a goodie bag. So it doesn't matter how many eggs you get, everyone gets a prize. Both the girls had fun. After the spring fling we went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. We had a gift certificate :) David and I shared the California club pizza, so yummy. We like eating at CPK. After lunch we went home for a small rest. Then we went out and did recycling. Then home again and the girls took baths, then we headed to the base theatre. We watched "Mars needs moms". It had a good message to it. It was a cute movie. I think both girls liked it. After the movie we hit the drive thru for burgers then home for bed.

And she's off.

And she's done.
Shadow wanted her picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

On the way to church one of the girls made a comment about how she couldn't wait to see what the Easter Bunny leaves in her Easter basket. David and I decided that the girls are now both old enough to know about the Easter Bunny. One daughter already knew. We also decided that our son will grow up knowing about Santa and all the other holiday "characters'. We want the true meaning of the holidays to be the reason we celebrate. Too much emphasis is placed on "what we are getting" instead of "what we can give".

Baptism and Family Time

Little child dressed in white,
He takes your hand, you hold so tight.
He with his arm to the square,
Commissioned of Jesus Christ, invokes the prayer.
You leave the water born anew,
And pledge you'll try his works to do.
Heavenly Father is happy today,
Because you have followed His Son's chosen way.
Remember always to choose the right,
Little child dressed in white.

Saturday morning we got up early and drove to Henderson, Nevada. Shadow was getting baptized! Her baptism started at 3 o'clock. It was on a stake level so there were lots of people there and five children getting baptized. David got to baptize and confirm Shadow. Grandma Bushar gave a talk on the Holy Ghost after the baptism. After the baptism we took some pictures than everyone went to Tasha and George's house for food. The whole thing was very awkward. But I guess that's what happens when parents get divorced and both get remarried. Alot of people get involved.

David and I! Don't look to close at my arms. I look rather chunky in this photo. Actually don't look to close at any of me, focus on David. What a handsome Devil :)
Scott and David

After the whole food thing at Tasha's house, the Bushar clan decided to go to Applebees for dessert. Deann and her three kids did not join us. I think they were still hanging out at Tasha's
Left to right: Christy, Selma with Scotti on her lap, Josie, Ellie with Bentley on her lap, Rachelle with Jack on her lap and Grandma Bushar with Ryan on her lap. Scott, David and I were standing. We were lucky we really didn't have to wait that long to be seated.
A look down the table at the family.

After Applebees we headed to Enterprise. We spent Saturday night there and went to church with Ann. After church we ate yummy dinner, looked thru baby clothes and then went to my parents house for a minute. Then we started the long drive home. Driving long distances is starting to bother me again. My hands and feet go numb and I get low back pain. Sorry there always needs to be some complaining....right? It seemed to take us forever to get home.

On another note, Dean's older brother Frank had open heart surgery on Friday. Dean and Delma (Dean's sister) were down in Los Angeles with him for the surgery. Things went well and Frank came thru the surgery. They expect him to spend between five and ten days in the hospital before he can go home to San Bernadino. We are so glad that he came thru the surgery. Our prayers are still with Frank as he recovers.

We love being able to spend time with family and we are really looking forward to December when we will be moving closer to family. Pretty soon there will be no more eight hour drives!!!

Easter, General Conference and fun!

We have been having lots of fun lately. I am so glad that it finally warmed up. Friday David got off work early and it was 84 degrees outside so we decided to go swimming. Well actually David and Christy swam I sat by the side and read. My swimming suit no longer fits and I am not sure that I want to shell out any money for a maternity one. My legs got a little tan :) Saturday was a busy, busy day. David had a watch from 4am to 8am. As soon as he got home I headed out to the Sons of Thunder food drive. We get lots of good food from this food drive. It is the largest of the three we attend each month. After I got home from that we all headed over to the park in our community for a Lincoln Military Easter/Spring event. They had free lunch, face painting, inflatable bounce house and slide and Easter egg hunts for the kids. Christy had a blast. I got a little sun on my arms :) Then we ran to the maternity store to try and find me some more clothes. I hate paying that much money for anything, especially maternity clothes that I will only be wearing for a few more months. We did not end up buying anything. In the evening we went to the base theatre and watched "Unknown". I thought it was a great movie. David really enjoyed it as well. Sunday we got up early and drove to Anaheim. The Andersen's had invited us to watch conference with them. We have done this before and have really enjoyed it. We had yummy breakfast of muffins, eggs and potatoes. For lunch we had enchiladas and chips and salsa. So yummy. Then of course we had dessert. Peanut butter cookies, lemon bars and fig newtons. I had never before had homemade fig newtons, but Aunt Connie's were delicious :) We had a great time hanging out and watching conference. After a while we headed home. Christy is out of school this whole month! I admit I am not looking forward to the rest of this month. I need to think of fun things that we can do, besides all the homework I have prepared for her. I figure that I can teach her more at home in a month than she has learned at school all year. I have bad feelings towards Christy school, if you can't tell.
Christy got this little chick painted on her arm at the housing Easter event. She didn't want anything painted on her face.
Her is Christy ready for the Easter egg hunt to begin.
There she goes looking for eggs.
Each kid was only allowed to pick up seven eggs. You can't see inside her bag but Christy choose all pink eggs. Each egg had two starbursts inside.
Today Christy and I made bracelets from the kit she received for Christmas. It was a fun activity that used up some of our time.

Today we also went to Old Navy. They were having a sale where all clearance items were marked an additional 30% off. Plus today was one of their military discount days. I scored some new clothes. Of which only one is actually maternity clothing. But the rest work. I like Old Navy because their sizes are different than everywhere else so I get to buy a smaller size than I really am and that makes me feel good!!!!
