More of Sea World Day Camp

One of the days Shadow learned all about Penguins and Sharks. She made these cute crafts to go along with what they learned.

Shadow putting on her name tag. Angela was one of her leaders in her group.
My beautiful girls!

Christy waiting for me to sign her out.

The girls had such a great time at Day Camp. Even though it was really expensive I am glad that we let them attend. They learned so much, made tons of memories and made some good friends. I doubt we will be able to let them go again. Each day when I picked them up the girls took turns telling me different things that they had learned that day. It was a learning experience for me as well!

This is what keeps me busy.

This morning after dropping the girls off at day camp I came home and started cooking. I made a batch of Chayote soup, a batch of Tomato soup and I made cheesy scalloped potatoes. My house smelled really yummy and this kept me busy.

Sea World Day Camp

This summer Christy and Shadow were able to attend summer day camp at Sea World. They went July 26 thru July 30 from 8:30 am to 5 pm. It sure cost a lot but the girls had so much fun that it was definitely worth it. Each morning I would drop them off around 8:15. They were required to wear their day camp t-shirts and bring their day camp water bottles. Each day I packed a morning snack and lunch for them. The girls were in different groups but saw each other at lunch and sometimes in the afternoons. They got to participate in so many fun activities... feeding the dolphins, kayaking, going behind the scenes, dissecting squid and fish, petting sea life and so many other activities. The girls had so much fun each day and came home with lots of new information to teach to David and I.

In the afternoons the kids were allowed to go on rides.
Paris was Shadows little friend in her group. The first day I packed brownies for the girls after lunch treat and Shadow was telling me how Paris told her how much she loved brownies, and Shadow being the kind person she is shared with her friend.
Christy was not real excited about taking this picture.

Sea World Day Camp

This is a rarity. The girls needed sack lunches for day camp and David was scheduled to work with Habitat for Humanity for the day so he was required to bring a sack lunch as well. I am so thankful that I do not have to make lunches every day for Christy to take to school and David to take to work. Christy gets to eat lunch and breakfast at school each day and David either packs his own lunch or gets something on base to eat.
Shadow and Christy after a fun filled, water soaked day at Sea World Day Camp.

Finally the OB appointment.

Today was my OB appointment that I waited almost two months for. I really like my new OB she seems very knowledgeable. She sent me to have a bunch of tests done. I had thirteen vials of blood drawn today. I looked funny walking out of the medical building. Both my arms had gauze and tape on them. Now I just have to wait to start my monthly gift from nature before I have have the Hysterosonogram that my doctor ordered. I am looking forward to my return appointment at the end of August. Maybe with some prayers and good test results I will be able to get pregnant before the end of the year.

Other news: David was called as the Webolos leader in our ward. Meetings are held every Tuesday evening. The good part of this is that every other Tuesday is Achievement days so we would all be going to the church together. The bad news is that when David starts his next mod of classes they fall on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Needless to say David will not be able to be a very active leader. But David let the bishopric know that that might happen. At least they have an assistant.
The girls are enjoying day camp. I will do a separate posts with pictures. I kinda miss having them at home. It gets kinda lonely :)
I can't wait for the reunion!!! It can not come soon enough.
Well that's all till later :)

Adding to the collection

Sorry folks no photo shop on this one. We collect these name signs. We got this one at Sea World.

Boring no more

Yesterday at the Food Exchange I got three bags of Chayote's. Luckily they handed out a sheet with recipes and I found some recipes online.
Chayote: Pronounced [chah-YOH-teh]. the chayote is another native Mexican plant and is a member of the squash family. It is also referred to as a "vegetable pear" or chcocho. The flesh is quite crisp something like a water chestnut. The chayote is seen in two forms, smooth and prickly. Surprisingly it actually didn't taste too bad.
I just had to have these :)

David is my hero and is going to help me photo shop pictures for my blog. Hopefully now my posts will be more exciting :)

Piggies

Shadow made this pink piggy-bank for Christy.
Two liter pop bottle, wooden knobs for legs, felt ears, pipe cleaner tail, cotton ball nose and of course bows.
Look who's sniffing at you!

There is a summer program here in San Diego where every weekday kids ages two - eighteen can go to designated spots and have free lunch. I of course will be taking advantage of this for my girls. We go to the Serra Mesa Rec center. Today was our first day going. The girls both got a chocolate milk, a hogie sandwich, goldfish snack pack and a banana.
Cheese, what a yummy sandwich!
What is going on with her hair? Can you tell that she does her own hair.
I am so glad that this service is available to us. It will save me so much money. And they will probably eat better at the rec center than they would at home.

Remember the Duck

THE DUCK AND QUIET ANGELS

Author Unknown

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching. Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. " Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing, and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper."

Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help. She whispered again, Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said "Sweetheart, I know, you see I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day and everyday there after.
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done-- and the Devil keeps throwing it in your face whatever it is, you need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing, He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the Devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.

This was part of our Relief Society lesson and I really liked it.

Sea World

We took the girls to Sea World Today. It was a very warm day and the park was full. We were excited to see the new Blue Horizons show. We also watched the late night Sea Lion and Otter show. It was a great laugh. We had such a great day and the girls were getting along so great. We all got a little sunburned despite several applications of sunblock. We waited an hour and a half to go on Shipwreck rapids. It was my first time and it was defiantly not worth the wait. Before we left the girls both got to pick out and buy with their own money a stuffed toy.
The new Blue Horizons show. We had to get wristbands specifying what time we could attend the show. It was a packed show.
Waiting for the Blue Horizons show to start.

Right after these pictures my camera died. I forget to charge the battery as soon as the indicator light comes on. Oh well. We had tons of fun.

I've been busy

I always am busy, but I like it that way. Then I don't get bored and I don't think about my headaches. Yesterday Christy and I had dentist appointments. Christy had no cavities, but she need to see an orthodontist. I have a cavity. I already knew I had one though. As my teeth have been moving with my braces I have noticed the cavity, but wanted to wait to get it taken care of until the tooth turned enough. I go back in Friday morning to take care of the cavity. Next week Shadow has a dentist appointment. The last time she went to the dentist was April 2009 when I took her. For some reason her mom doesn't take her. I can't understand it, she doesn't have to pay anything to take her. Oh well. I finished physical therapy for my knee today. I actually enjoyed going and will now have to remember to keep exercising. Shadow is staying with us until towards the end of August. Today was a short day for Christy at school. We were going to go swimming as today has been one of the hottest of the year, unfortunately the pool is closed for repairs. So we came home and did chores.

The girls washing the trash cans from the house. They actually wanted to do this.
I made this skirt for the girls dress up with scraps I had in my sewing box. I made a matching purse as well.
The brown towels that I decorated for the auction.
The white towels I decorated for the auction. I really like these.

This year at the Beasley Family Reunion I am going to provide a few things for the auction. I am taking some of the cards I have made as well as towels that I decorated. Mom let me bring one of her sewing machines home so I could make the towels. I like sewing and it seems like it has been forever since I have sewed.
David had to buy yet another uniform for work. This one they call their "Peanut Butter and Jellies". It's a brown short sleeved button down shirt, black dress pants and a black hat. David isn't too fond of them but I think they look nice. He gets to wear his ribbons with them. I will have to post a picture of him in them. I was thinking that I am going to do a post with David in each of his uniforms.
That's all for now. I can't wait for the Beasley Reunion in August. I haven't seen Sarah in a long time, probably four or five years. That's forever and I haven't seen Amber in forever either (not since January). Most of the Beasley's haven't met David or Shadow either. I am just excited to spend time with all my family :)

So many things

I have finally conquered using "I Photo" on our Mac to upload photos to my blog :) It feels like I never have anytime or desire to sit down and blog. I will try to be better. We had Stake Conference a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. Christy went with us to the Adult session on Saturday night. We sat in the very back so she could color and read without distracting others. Both the Saturday and Sunday session were so very spiritual and helpful to me. A lot of what they talked about was red flags on things that David and I need to work on in our home. Our Stake President has encouraged each member to have a daily personal devotional. This is an area that I need to work on. It's not a habit of mine yet and I am working on making it a habit. On June 24th I went to the Neighborhood food exchange. This month I went an hour early because in May I was a half hour early and only received produce. This time I was the 20th person in line. I got a lot of food. I had so much produce that I knew would rot before we could eat it so I called a few neighbors and unloaded my produce on them. If you look at my food blog you will see three celery recipes in a row. I ended up with 11 stalks of celery, I only kept two. Good thing I can go online and find recipes! I have gone so long without having a migraine and in the past two weeks I have had two bad ones. Not sure whats going on with that. We didn't do anything exciting for the Fourth of July. David had duty on Saturday so that pretty much cemented us to home. Monday we went to the California State Fair in Delmar. It was not a very pleasant experience. I had a headache and the fair was simply too BIG!!! I think my all time favorite fair is the Clark County Fair. Yesterday I got a not so pleasant surprise when I went to pick up Christy from school. The principal was waiting with Christy for me. Christy had written a not at all nice letter to her teacher. I bet if they hadn't had already called Child Protective Services on me they would have after that letter. Christy has been really struggling socially lately. She is having a really hard time at school. She only has a few friends. She gets made fun of for some of her actions. Christy is currently with teacher number five just for her third grade year. Lately I feel hopeless I have no idea what to do for her anymore. We all had to meet with Child Protective Services last week. It's not the first time but it seems to really get to me every time. I am really struggling. I wish I knew what to do about Christy. I love her so much and I only want whats best for her and I have no idea what that is. I only hope that her new therapist will help Christy to work thru all the things that are going on with her. I am so grateful that I have David. He has been my strength in so many situations.

Tonight while we were sitting at dinner there was a 5.7 Earthquake. It felt like a train was racing by right outside our walls, then the house continued to shake for a few seconds. It was so cool. It was not bad enough in our area to do any damage.
Very early in the morning Christy and I are headed to St. George. I need to get the car safety inspection and re-registered. One of the perks of being in the Military is that we can keep our car registered in Utah but not be required to pay the taxes :) So nice!!! It will be nice to spend a few days with my family, too bad it is going to be hotter than HELL! The heat increases my headaches and migraines, and my orneriness.

Achievement day service

The Achievement Day Girls in our ward and the 12th ward did a service project for their activity this week. They had a pamper your mom night. We had stations for manicures and pedicures. There was homemade foot scrub, lotions, soaps and lots of other pampering goodies. We also had fruit, cookies and lemonade.
Look at Christy's face. She was not enjoying this at all. She ended up giving me a "manicure" and with a bribe of erasing one of her consequences she also did a manicure and pedicure for Sister Balls(the leader from the twelve ward).
Homemade foot scrub. Brown sugar and Vaseline!
Some of the girls and their moms.
Doing a little better with touching my feet.
