I haven't taken the time lately to blog. So here goes and it might be a little long.
Friday the 27th David, Christy and I went to Disneyland. David got home early, they were scheduled to come home on Friday but Thursday afternoon he came home, and what was even better then him coming home early was that he had a four day weekend. So Friday morning we got up early and drove to Anaheim. We picked Wendy up and off to Disneyland we went. Wendy being the most awesome gal that she is got David into the park. We had a really good day. It was nice to spend the day together and just relax and have fun. The longest line was for Space mountain and that was the last ride we did. All the other lines went fairly quickly. David and Christy on the tea pots. I do not ride the tea pots because I got sick. So David was a trooper and went with Christy.
On Wednesday the 25th the two second grade classes from Dewey Elementary went to Sea World. A few weeks ago the school sent home the permission slips and I signed for Christy to go and I also signed us a volunteer to go. Well come Tuesday afternoon still no word from Ms. Alan Christy's teacher as to whether or not I was one of the parents selected to go. And of course Christy had a substitute Tuesday. So Christy and I walked back to the school and I went to the office to see if they knew. No one in the office had any clue about what was going on regarding the field trip. Wednesday I told Christy that if Ms. Alan needed me to come that she could call me. So 8:30 comes around and the school calls and tells me that Ms. Alan said that I could go. So I hurried and packed a bag with some treats and some water and my camera, and off to school I go. Now let me just say that I was very excited to go on this field trip. I have never before had the chance to accompany Christy on a field trip. Well lets just say that after this field trip I am no longer anxious to attend field trips as long as Christy attends Dewey Elementary. When I got to school Ms. Alan asked which kids needed a lunch. Now I the assuming mother that I am(also having received no further communication regarding the field trip) thought that the school would provide sack lunches for the kids. Especially since the majority of Christy's class receive free lunch. No, I had not packed a lunch for Christy or myself! I told Christy not to raise her hand because I would just buy myself and her lunch there. So after the whole lunch issue we headed out to catch the bus. But not the school bus the CITY bus. Two second grade classes walked three blocks down a major street and crossed two of the busiest intersections and then walked two more blocks to get on the city bus to go to Sea World. We arrived at Sea World at 10:40 missing the special dolphin presentation they put on just for the elementary kids. There was no organization throughout the whole day. Kids were always lagging behind and Ms. Alan never took notice. It was up to us moms that went along to make sure all the class was together. The whole time we were there the kids saw the sharks, the penguins, the dolphins and we went on the Wild Artic ride. That is all the kids in Ms. Alans class got to do. Talk about disappointment.

That is SOOOOOOOO funny. And I thought schools in washington county were bad! They are the cream of the crop compared to what you have. I love that the kids had to ride a city bus and walk so far to get to the bus. You should go on every trip just to be sure that at the end of the day you still have your daughter! Ilike the picture of you and the Davester on the beach. It's only 60 here today so it's lovely to see a warm picure!
Sounds like a very frustrating field trip, I've always been nervous to have Matt go on field trips for that very reason, who knows if the teacher will be keeping track of all the kids.
Oh gosh, that doesn't sound good at all! I'm so sorry you had a crappy experience. I do love Sea World though! The dolphin show is definitely my favorite. However, Shamu is definitely a close second. :) Rest assured, not ALL field trips are like that! I would have gone absolutely BONKERS.
How frustrating! I couldn't imagine Haylee going on a field trip so unorganized without me being there!
