USS Nimitz News

The USS Nimitz left for what was to be a six month deployment on July 31, 2009. They left from the home port of Naval Base North Island in San Diego, CA. This was to be my first and only deployment as a navy wife. Their first port visit was to Yokosuka, Japan. While in port they had a Command change. The USS Nimitz now has a new captain. Their second port visit was to Singapore. They have recently left Singapore. While in port David took his advancement test. I talked to him this morning and he feels like he did well on his test. David also informed me that their six month deployment has now turned to eight months. We are having issues getting new orders for shore duty. Our options are limited and the situation has been weighing on David and I. There is so much that is up in the air at this time. David seems to be having a tough time. For all of you that are not my facebook peeps I am putting together a care package for David and everyone is welcome to contribute. I know that letters, pictures, etc. would help David out. Well thats all for now. Please keep David, and all active duty members in your prayers.

So you've updated a TON since I last checked! That's good though. ;) Darrin told me you came in the other day; I'm jealous. I love looking at the pretty things--even if I don't get to purchase any of them. That sucks about David's deployment! Hopefully things'll work out the you'd like them to. I honestly don't even want to imagine what life would be like as a military wife. Seriously-AWESOME WOMEN!

Just so you know, I still crack up over the fact that the Navy named a boat the Nimitz. I'd think it would be bad luck!

I hope David did well and that you guys can get some orders pretty quick! Sorry about the 6 months turning into 8, that really stinks!

Sorry to hear about the deployment news. I hope you get orders soon so you can be together again. If you want I can send pictures of Zuriah and scotti to you to send to David. Just let me know when you want them.
