Just for mom

For as long as I can remember I have had this nauseating fear of raw meat and poultry. When buying meat I would buy it as I needed it. I would spend extra money to buy chicken already shredded or cut into strips. When cooking with hamburger I buy it already separated into the amount I need and then without touching the meat I would deposit it into whatever cooking dish it was going into. And if I needed chicken breast I buy them frozen in the bag with the fat, skin and bones removed. You should see me making meatloaf. I use a spoon, no sticking my hands into that gooey, yucky mess. I also have this same thing with cooked meat with bones in it. Except I can't eat meat if it has a bone it. Growing up we were lucky dad always deboned meat. And turkeys for Thanksgiving were never served before dad went thru and took all the meat off the bones. I can't eat ribs and other such things with the bone in it. Anyways today I found this chicken stir fry recipe I wanted to try, but it called for chicken breast cut into cubes, and seeing how we are trying to save money and we had frozen chicken breast in the freezer I decided to be brave. I dumped three pieces of chicken out of the bag, no I did not touch them. I let them thaw for a while then I was so very daring and I cut them all into cubes. I gagged the whole time but I did it all by myself :) Mom I hope you are proud of me!!

Blech!! I hate cutting meat too. I have a hard time eating any meat (except for chicken) if I had to prepare it myself. We eat a lot of chicken so I can handle that now! Yay for you!

I am the same way! I've become better about touching ground beef, but I try to just dump it right into the pan to cook. Chicken is the worst to handle when it's raw...yuck! Good job for braving it! :)
