Just thought, no pictures

Saturday David and Christy went to the Mormon Battalion celebration. I wasn't feeling up to it. They had a good time. Christy made another fabric doll. Sunday evening we went to a special Military Fireside put on by the missionaries in the area. Elder Whitman and Elder Oaks from the Quorum of the Seventy were the speakers. We enjoyed lots of musical numbers from the Elders and Sisters as well. I really enjoyed the fireside. Today when I went to pick up Christy from school I was greeted by the principal. Never a good thing. I guess today during class Christy was complaining that she didn't feel well and one of the other girls gave her a pill to take. I guess it left a bad taste in Christy's mouth and she kept asking to get drinks. When the teacher asked why her mouth tasted bad, I guess Christy told the teacher that the other girl had given her a pill to take. Both girls were taken to the principals office. The other girl said that it was a pain pill that her mother had given her. So both us mothers and both girls, the principal and the teacher all met together. The other little girl got suspended and both girls have to write and essay on drugs, why not to take them and what they can do to our bodies. I felt really bad for the other girl. She was trying to be nice and give Christy that pill. I hope that both girls learn from this experience. I don't necessarily agree that the other girl got suspended, but I'm not the principal. The sad thing is that Christy knows better that. We have had many discussions about taking drugs and other things from other people. I am glad that she has to write an essay, it will help her remember. It turns out the pill that Christy took was an acid reflux pill. I'm glad that there was no serious reaction to the pill and that it was only an acid reflux medication. The joys of being a mom!!

That's kinda scary! I'm glad it wasn't any serious kind of medication! I think suspension is what would have happened here as well, they don't take things like that lightly and I don't think they should. Poor Christy, hard lesson to learn but really glad she's ok!

I would not make a good principal. I would give in when anyone started crying. The poor girl was sobbing and I felt so bad for her.

Dang!!! Scary. I'd be all for that kid getting suspended! Aren't all medications supposed to be administered by the office? That's how it is here. If your kid needs meds you have to give them to the office and they give it to the kids as necessary. Yikes, you have so many exciting things that happen! :)

Yeah, that girl would have been suspended here too. Any distribution of a controlled substance (or not) is in violation of the national safe school policy, so even though she was trying to be sweet, the principal totally did what he/she was supposed to do.
